Common questions
Why is there no list of recipes to browse?
On purpose. Every recipe Andrea makes is generated for you, from what you already have and what it has learned about your taste. A fixed catalogue is the part of a cooking app that cannot be personalised, so there is not going to be one.
How does Andrea learn what I like?
From what you actually do. Rating a meal counts, but so does changing it while you cook: telling Andrea you used half the chilli is a stronger signal than any star rating, because it is a real action at ingredient level. Cooking something without rating it is not treated as liking it.
How long before it feels personalised?
It needs a handful of cooks before it will claim to know anything. Until then Andrea says so plainly rather than inventing a taste profile it cannot support. It keeps improving well past that point.
I have an allergy. Can I rely on this?
Allergy and diet rules are enforced by fixed code that checks the title, every ingredient and every step of a recipe before you ever see it, rather than by asking the AI politely. Recipes that break a rule you set are blocked outright. That said, always check ingredient labels yourself, especially for a severe allergy.
Do I need an account?
Yes. Andrea needs an account. Everything it learns about your cooking is tied to it, so that it follows you to a new phone rather than starting over. Signing in is done with Apple, so we never see a password.
How do I get my data out?
In the app, open Settings, then Your data, then Privacy, and choose Export my data. You get a JSON file straight away with your profile, your cooking records, your notes and ratings, your saved recipes, your shopping list and your meal plan. Your dish photographs and your allergy rules are not in it, because those never leave your phone.
How do I delete my account?
Settings, then Your data, then Delete account. There is a 30 day grace period during which signing back in cancels it.
Does Andrea cost anything?
Andrea is free to download and free to try. A subscription is 15 kr per week or 599 kr per year, and the annual plan starts with 7 days free, on the annual plan only. Payment is handled by Apple, and you can cancel from your iPhone's Settings at any time. Recipe generation has a daily fair use limit because each one costs money to produce.
A recipe came out wrong.
Tell us, and include the dish name and roughly when you generated it. Recipes are checked automatically before you see them, and a bad one that got through usually points at a gap in that check that we can close.
Privacy and your data
What we keep and why is set out in the privacy policy. Instructions for removing your account are on the delete your account page. The terms you agree to by using Andrea are in the terms of use.
